So the CEO of Peyton PHlaCe sent an email...
Times are tough...sales are down...healthcare cannot decide if it wants to reform...
You will get laid off as soon as you finish the project you are working on...
Hmmm...this project is taking a lot longer than I originally anticipated...

Hmmm. Perhaps we do work at the same place. Keep motivated, if possible.
does this mean u r gonna lose your job soon?
Work slower! Work slower!
Flubtastic, I am pretty sure we do work at the same place...
Anonymous, Yes, I am afraid it does...unless I give them a very good reason to keep me, but my track record on doing that is not so great...I have a bad habit of letting them know what's on my mind:)
CLL, My mantra: How slow can I go:)
Oh, no. I'm so sorry... this economy blows CHUNKS.
Oh Phillipia, I am so sorry... Will it be permanent?... 'cause if it's temporary, a little unemployment-paid-for time off wouldn't be bad... Man, I hope it's temporary... We live in very scary times.
Okay, everyone...I need to back up a bit...
I tend to exaggerate and be sarcastic (especially in my posts about Peyton PHlaCe) in an attempt at humor...obviously I failed this time...
The email said layoffs were imminent...certain management layers hinted strongly that this first round was not the last - once the projects we are working on were released there would most certainly be more...and since my current tasks and those of a few folks around me, once completed, will not need to be done again for a few months....
...you get the picture...failed attempt at humor...I do appreciate your concern...
And furthermore, this is the second attempt to post this apology; I tried immediately after I approved WT's comment, but my f'in cable service chose that moment to disconnect, lose my comment, and would not reconnect...
I fell asleep trying to reconnect...I'm awake now - thanks G-Man....
Again...I still have a job at least until the next round of layoffs...
