I did not need to know that....

This month I spent quite a few hours with LDBoy's friends.

In between mourning - there were a couple of nights that were pretty much a toast to life and let's party like Ryan would have wanted us too...

Saturday night after the house fire, quite a few in town friends went to downtown Akron and shared a drink or three and reminisced.

The last time I had seen most of these friends was at the awesome New Year's Eve party...

I thought I had handled myself and my alcohol pretty well that night....

Saturday I began to hear differently.

Hey Mom, how ya doing? Remember me?

Yeah...(why wouldn't I??? )

Remember my friend here???

No? Have we met before???

You don't remember?

No....

I was thankful that I was pulled away from that conversation ('cuz I was sorta afraid of where it was headed) to go across the street and watch another friend perform his Drag Queen show which he dedicated to Ryan....

That was a first for me...

It was fun, especially since we all knew the performer.

And all the tips he collected he handed over to Ryan's family to help cover travel and funeral expenses. Thank you, Preston.

And then Thursday night (because apparently Thursday was the night the boys liked to party at Lux's)...

First Class Limos supplied two limos (because apparently Ryan was such a good customer) and Lux's nightclub supplied food....

And it was here that I realized that I was not as in control of myself on New Year's Eve as I thought...

Apparently I had even more fun than I remember...

And we will leave it at that...

There's a lot going in this post. First, the mourning: I'm truly sorry. I've been following this story, and it's just awful. Second, New Year's Eve: Wow. Shame you don't remember, I guess. Or perhaps it would be shameful if you did. ;)

Mike, thanks for your thoughtful comments...it has been a rough month; I have not been able to get back into a blogging mood (reading or writing) yet. I am not even going to say that things have to get better (I didn't say that) because every time I do I seem to hear more bad news. I will settle for status quo right now:)

Sounds like you had a great send off for Ryan. Take it easy there, sister, and be kind to yourself!

Thinking of you!
