And the results are in....

Hey Mom, can you get me to the Kaiser office to pick up my MRI report?

What????

Yeah, they do not have a fax machine at their records office, so they cannot fax the report to the school, but I can go pick them up if I get there within the next hour....

They do not have a fax machine in a records office????

Whatever - I am on my way....

45 mins later, we are standing at the window in front of the lady who can give us the report....

If it was ready....

Her: Your report is not ready.  I cannot give that to you, child....
Me: What the hell do you mean it is NOT ready....you told him to get here within the hour....

Her: Who is this lady? Your mama?

Me: YES, I am his MAMA.  And I pay for the insurance - so you can tell me why you do not have a fax machine in this office and why you did not mention that the report was not ready before....

Her: Your report does not have to be ready for 2 more days....tell your Mama to calm herself....

Him: You tell her...I am afraid...

Her: Child, you can call radiology or your doctor and ask them to speed things up a bit, but it is up to them.

Him: Let's just go, Mom....
So since we are out and about, we decide to go see G-Man's friend who is in the hospital having a really bad time fighting a battle against Ulcerative Colitis....

I am driving and G-Man is on the phone with radiology....

I get to hear his side of the conversations....two of them - one on my phone, one on his...
It's ready??? It just needs signed?    I am ok with a preliminary...the team doctor can read it....yes, can you fax that over right away?  Let me get you the fax number...hey doc, I need the fax number...440...blah blah blah...not you...hold on...hold on...yes, right away.  Thanks...oh shit...let me get her back on the line....just drive, Mom....
So by now we are at the hospital parking deck....

And G-Man realizes he missed a call from his primary care doc....

Again, I get to hear only his side....
It just needs signed, preliminary is fine....I know you did not order it, our team doctor ordered it....you do not want involved????... just send it to my team doctor who did order it....can radiology send it without a release from you????  I need to know if I can practice today....why not???? ...Jesus Christ - just tell me....
shit...what previous surgery??? my ACL???... Noooo - I have not had neck surgery before....
......
Let's go up and see DoubleD, Mom...
Talk to me, G-Man.

I'm done, Mom.  They will not let me play with a herniated disc.
I am sorry.

Let's just go see DoubleD.
Which was even more depressing....poor kid was having a really tough time....it hurt us to see such a good kid going through that hell....but I was proud of G-Man for totally forgetting his concerns for a few minutes and talking to DD and encouraging him to do what it takes to get through....

G-Man did not talk much at all after we left the hospital. I dropped him back at campus and headed home...

I was home just long enough to look up some online info about herniated discs....

And I get the call....

G-Man: Mom, they sent over the MRI - but it's not mine  - they were reading the wrong report!!! ...You there?

Me: Yeah, so now what???

G-Man: I don't know yet - we have to wait for the right report....but from the X-ray report - which is mine, the doc says I look fine.

Me: You are not practicing yet are you?

G-Man: No, they said I am done for year because it is my second concussion - I forgot about that rule...but I think I might be ok for next year...I gotta go...luv ya...
So glad that day is behind us...what an emotional roller coaster....

But in the end all has worked out....

DD has since taken a turn for the better - much better.  He started eating and walking and getting past all the shit that he was dealt.  He is now recovering at home with his family.  A family of saints...I love them...

And two days later, G-Man got HIS MRI report...

The pain in his neck was caused by a flare-up of arthiritis...most likely a result of all those previous hits to the neck....

He is pretty happy...

As he posted on FaceBook...

Hey everyone...I'm ok...I just have arthritis in my neck...

Just???

OMG! What an ordeal. I would be a basket case. I hope he can take something for the pain by now. That is some picture of him topsy turvey up in the air. Did you take the pic?

gayle, it was tough; my son was pushing me out the door; I think he was afraid he would never see the results if he did not get me out of there...

Peruby, I did not take that pic - I am not sure who did. There are a couple of parents who take awesome game pics and post for the team. I wish I knew who took this one...G-Man found it somewhere and posted to his facebook which is where I grabbed it from.
But he is doing much better now.
