Peyton PHlaCe Antics....

In an earlier post I mentioned a recent survey that supposedly measures Employee Engagement at Peyton PHlaCe.

I think I initially misunderstood what the term Employee Engagement means to upper management....

I believe I have it figured out now....

They (UM types) wanted to hear from us who we thought was doing the worst job being a manager....

They needed to know this so that they could then promote our choices up a level....

Just to ensure that these Engaged managers could have the power to practice their Engaging management techniques at a higher level....

Or maybe Empoyee Engagement just does not matter as much to UM as they would like us to believe....

Otherwise.....

Why would they promote someone (known as EG for the purpose of this post) who....

  • Got all time low engagment scores....

  • Treats some of his people like shit...who IMHO are least deserving of being treated like shit...

  • Puts others on a pedestal...who IMHO are least deserving of being on that pedestal ...

  • Regularly badmouths his people publicly in front of their coworkers....
  • Publicly proclaims that tasks assigned to some of us peons (yours truly included) are simple and require little effort.....

  • Is fast to point out mistakes of judgement (in his opinion) of coworkers on his own level in what I perceive as a shameful attempt to ensure himself a spot on the high end of that bell curve....

Seriously....
This guy insisted on taking over a functional group (FG) because he did not feel that they were producing the deliverables that his team needed them to produce....

During his tenure as FG manager, the deliverables expected from the FG were redefined to be substabtially less than they were previously....

A few months later, a reorganization placed said FG under a different supervisor - one on the same level as EG.

Suddenly, tho not surprising to yours truly, EG decides the the requirements from said FG are way less than they ought to be and lays blame on the new manager.....

Until a few months later, EG again assumes responsibilty for the FG.

Suddenly, and again not surprising to yours truly, EG redefines deliverables expected from the FG  to be substabtially less than they were previously....

And EG names a team lead for the FG who is so much like himself  that that move came as no surprise to yours truly.

And for this he gets a promotion....

And it effects yours truly.

I am not surprised....

Just very, very, very disappointed in Peyton PHlaCe UM.....

And I am thinking I need to update my resume.....

I am definitely not one of EG's favorite people....

Probably because I have a bad habit of seeing EG's actions for what they are and calling him on them....

Which was ok before he got this most recent promotion...
